Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin has said that the recent gun attack on Inqilab Mancha leader Osman Hadi is an isolated incident. AMM Nasir Uddin has further said that there are no doubts or worries about the security bulwark over upcoming general elections.
CEC AMM Nasir Uddin made the above comments while addressing a program in the capital's Gulshan on Monday (15 December 2025). AMM NasirUddin asserted that the elecions will be held smoothly on time and
the Election Commission is fully prepared to organize polls in a free and fair way in the middle of foolproof security measures. He remarked that law and order situation did not deteriorate. AMM Nasir Uddin stated that some killings and crimes often happen ahead of elections. He cited examples of the murders of Awami League MP Ahsan Ullah Master and former Finance Minister Shah ASM Kibria. These things are common occurrences in Bangladesh and these are nothing too big, AMM Nasir Uddin told the audiences yesterday.
On the other hand, a case has been filed with Paltan Police Station under Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP). Duty Officer Assistant Sub Inspector Rakibul Hasan confirmed the matter to journalists on Monday. Rakibul Hasan told reporters that a relative closely associated with Osman Hadi lodged the case. Inspector (Operations) Yeasin Miah, Paltan Police Station is investigating the allegations described in the case, ASI Rakibul Islam added.
Law and order forces have so far arrested six people in connection with the murder attempt on Osman Hadi. The owner of the motorcycle used for shooting Osman Hadi has been arrested too. Two women are also there among the arrestees.
Two motorcyclists shot Osman Hadi into his head on 12 December 2025, Friday right after Juma prayers in the capital's Purana Paltan. Political circumstances all over Bangladesh have been restless and highly heated up following the gunshot on Osman Hadi since last Friday.
