Star-studded Bashundhara Kings tasted their first defeat in the Bangladesh Football League when they suffered a 2-1 goal defeat to Bangladesh Police Football Club held at Shaheed Barkat Stadium in Gazipur on Saturday.
In the day's match, forward Mohammed Rabbi Hossen Rahul gave Police a deserving lead early in the 3rd minute. Mohammed Fahim leveled the margin for Kings in the 32nd minute of the match.
After the breather, Uganda midfielder Shafiq Kagimu sealed the victory scoring the second goal for Police in the 90+3rd minute of the match.
The day's win saw Police move up in fourth position in the league table with 10 points from seven matches while Bashundhara Kings, despite the day's defeat, maintained their domination in the league with their previous collection of 16 points playing the same number of matches.
Bangladesh Police will play their next match against Arambagh Krira Sangha on December 26 while Bashundhara Kings will face Abahani Limited Dhaka on December 27.
Meanwhile, Fortis Football Club moved to second position in the league table in Bangladesh Football League (BFL) defeating Fakirerpool Young Men's Club by 3-0 goals held at Bashundhara Kings arena in the capital at the same day.
In the day's match, Gambian forward Pa Babou and Riaj Sagor scored for the winning side. The early breakthrough came for Fortis when Pa Babou scored the first goal in the 8th minute. Sagor doubled the lead scoring the second goal for Fortis in the 19th minute of the match.
After the resumption, Pa Babou further widened the margin scoring his second and third goal for Fortis in the 54th minute of the match.
Fortis completely dominated the entire proceeding and notched their deserving victory on the day while Fakirerpool were off-colored in the match.
With this victory, Fortis Football Club secured 14 points from seven matches while Fakirerpool remained with their previous collection of five points playing the same number of matches.
Fortis FC and Fakirerpool Young Men's Club will play their next matches against Brothers Union Club and PWD Sports Club respectively on December 27.
