Inqilab Moncho has announced that it will continue the blockade at Shahbagh in Dhaka until justice is ensured in the killing of its leader Sharif Osman bin Hadi.

On Friday, the platform's Member Secretary Abdullah Al Jaber said they would remain on the streets until all perpetrators behind the murder are arrested.

Students, leaders, activists, and members of the public from various backgrounds joined the sit-in after Jumma prayers, temporarily halting vehicular movement in the area. Observers said while the main road remained blocked, vehicles continued to move through smaller side streets.

Jaber said: "Tomorrow we will blockade here, In Sha Allah. People are coming from all over Bangladesh, and they will arrive and gather at Shahbagh by morning. We're not going anywhere from here. We've taken our position, and when we say we've taken position, we mean we've taken position. We will not leave."

The organization has also called on citizens to join the sit-in to raise their voices against what it called the culture of impunity. In a Facebook post on Friday afternoon, Inqilab Mancha appealed to people of the country to participate in the protest demanding justice for Hadi's killing.

During the programme, Hadi's brother Sharif Omar bin Hadi said: "The government has shown no interest in justice. Hadi's trial is now the demand of 180 million Bangladeshis. We will not return home until justice is delivered." Hadi was shot on Dec 12 in the capital's Bijoynagar by assailants on a moving motorcycle. He was treated at Dhaka Medical College Hospital and Evercare Hospital Dhaka before being flown to Singapore, where he died on Dec 19.
