A Jubo Dal leader has been shot and killed near his home in Chattogram’s Raozan.

Police said the murder took place around 8:30pm on Monday in Raozan’s Purbo Guzra union.

The victim has been identified as Jane Alam Sikder, 48, a member of the Upazila chapter of Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal. He lived in Sikder Para.

Raozan Police Station chief Mohammad Sajedul Islam said Jane Alam was on his way home when assailants on a motorcycle shot him.

He died at a private hospital.

More than 17 people have been murdered in Raozan since a student-led uprising ousted the previous Awami League government on Aug 5, 2024.

He also served as the general secretary of the Purba Guzra Union unit of Jubo Dal and was considered influential in local politics, according to locals.
