The modern Fire Service and Civil Defense Station at Shibu Market in Narayanganj was officially inaugurated by the Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs Nasimul Gani.
The inauguration ceremony took place on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 11:00 AM, with the honorable Secretary as the chief guest. The newly constructed fire station is located at Shibu Market in Narayanganj, according to a press release.
Present at the event were the Director General of the Fire Service and Civil Defense Brigadier General Mohammad Jahed Kamal, NDC, AFWC, PSC, directors, the Deputy Commissioner of Narayanganj, the Superintendent of Police, Deputy Director of Ansar, along with officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Fire Service, media personnel, local volunteers, and various other guests from different walks of life. At 11:00 AM, when the Chief Guest arrived at the Fire Station premises, the Director General of the Department greeted him, and they proceeded to the welcome stage. At this time, a team of skilled firefighters, led by Warehouse Inspector Mr. Zaherul Islam, presented a Guard of Honor to the Chief Guest.
After receiving the guard of honor, the Senior Secretary unveiled the plaque commemorating the inauguration of the Shibu Market Modern Fire Station. A prayer was then offered for the welfare of the country and its people. Following this, the Chief Guest planted a mango tree in the station premises. After the tree planting ceremony, the Chief Guest ascended the stage to address the gathering.
The event began with a welcome speech from the Deputy Commissioner of Narayanganj, who praised the efforts of the Fire Service in responding to various emergencies. The Director General of the Fire Service then highlighted the challenges faced by the department and requested the continued cooperation of the Narayanganj district administration, police, and the local community.
In his address, the Chief Guest recalled his own experience as a volunteer firefighter in his youth and expressed his satisfaction at being able to inaugurate the new fire station. He thanked the Director General of the Fire Service and all those involved in making the project a success. He also advised on increasing the number of volunteers to address future risks and challenges, such as earthquakes.
He emphasized the need for stronger media campaigns to raise public awareness and stressed the importance of maintaining their position of service to the people at all times.
After his speech, the Chief Guest answered questions from the media. He then proceeded to inspect the station's barrack building, vehicles, pumps, and other facilities. The Chief Guest signed the visitor's book before joining the attendees for a luncheon.
