 UIU Debate Club becomes  runners-up
 
United International University Debate Club (UIUDC) became runners-up in the 13 th Surja Sen Memorial Debate Festival 2026. The award distribution ceremony for the four-day national debate festival was held on January 4, 2026 at Dhaka University. 

The fest was organized by the Surya Sen Bitorko Dhara, DU.

Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan, Vice Chancellor, Dhaka University (DU) was present as the Chief Guest at the award ceremony and handed over the trophy to the winning teams. Prof. Dr. Md. Rafiqul Islam, Provost, Surja Sen Hall and SM Farhad, General Secretary, Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) were present as the Special Guests in the fest, according to a press release. UIU showcased exceptional debating skills throughout the tournament and faced Bangladesh Agricultural University in the semifinal round, where UIU emerged victorious to secure a place in the final. In the final round, the team of Bijoy Ekattor Hall from the University of Dhaka claimed the championship title, while UIU finished as the Runners-up.

UIUDC consisted of three team members: Md. Tasnim Hossain, Md. Suad Hossain and Ikramul Hashib Arnob. Additionally, Md. Tasnim Hossain, a team member of UIUDC, achieved the 3 rd Speaker Break in the debate festival. A total of 32 teams from leading public and private universities participated in the competition, including Dhaka University, Jahangirnagar University, Jagannath University, Chittagong University, Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University, Noakhali Science and Technology University, University of Asia Pacific, Stamford University, and Bangladesh Agricultural University.
