A Noble Purpose Makes Success Attainable: BPDB Chairman

A Noble Purpose Makes Success Attainable: BPDB Chairman

The fundamental prerequisite for an organization's progress is unwavering commitment to a noble purpose. No circumstance should be allowed to distract or mislead the organization. Only then can an organization be run effectively. In short, the achievement of goals becomes possible only when the purpose is noble.

These remarks were made by the Chairman of the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB), Engineer Md. Rezaul Karim (Grade-1), while speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of the BPDB Engineers' Association, held on Monday at the Muktihall of Bidyut Bhaban, according to a press release. The BPDB Chairman stated that an organization serves as both the custodian and the driving force of an institution.

Personal development,

knowledge, and professional dignity accelerate an organization's progress, whereas personal interests tend to hold it back. However, a mindset of healthy and constructive competition with others helps transform an organization into an iconic one.

He further noted that BPDB is now in a much better position than it was when many of them first joined the organization, and he expressed optimism that it would reach even greater heights in the future. He warmly welcomed and extended his best wishes for the new journey of the BPDB Engineers' Association.

Special guest, Member (Generation) Engineer Md. Zahurul Islam, remarked that organizations often deteriorate due to business or personal interests. Drawing from his long involvement with various organizations, he said he had witnessed this reality firsthand. Therefore, he emphasized that demands must always be reasonable and justified, and that engineers need to be more diligent and hardworking. Another special guest, Member (Company Affairs) Engineer A. N. M. Obaidullah, said that BPDB is a long-established and heritage institution, and that his own professional career has also been extensive. He reflected that he had seen many promising associations fade away due to a lack of competence, even though they had the potential to go much further. He stressed that when an organization remains active, it provides a proper platform to articulate the concerns of the institution.

Special guest, Member (Distribution) Engineer Md. A. Basid, said that with the emergence of the BPDB Engineers' Association, a unique platform has now been created to address the professional security and rights of BPDB engineers. Presiding over the event, Chief Engineer (Distribution, Southern Region) Md. Kamal Uddin Ahmed stated that there is no alternative to the BPDB Engineers' Association when it comes to highlighting flawed policies in the power sector. He added that the future leadership of the association would rest solely in the hands of those who truly uphold and represent BPDB. In his welcome address, Engineer A. K. M. Mahiuddin Azmi, Director (IPP Cell-2) and Member Secretary of the Constitution Committee of the BPDB Engineers' Association, said that the association would work in the interest of BPDB as a non-partisan, neutral, and inclusive organization. At the event, the Secretary General of the Bangladesh Water and Power Engineers Association, Engineer Md. Shahedul Azim Sajal, also spoke.

The keynote paper was presented by Deputy Director (Non-Development Project), Design-2, Engineer Md. Sahedur Rahman Suman.
