Narayanganj-1: Battle between BNP's Dipu and Jamaat's Anwar

Narayanganj-1: Battle between BNP's Dipu and Jamaat's Anwar

Immediately after the distribution of symbols, the candidates of different parties of Narayanganj-1 Rupganj constituency are seeking votes from voters with dummy marks or symbols and black and white leaflets.  During the campaign, they are making various promises to the voters.  As the 13th National Parliament election approaches, Rupganj is becoming more lively.

Candidates and supporters are spending a busy time in campaigning and mass communication.  Starting from organizational preparation meetings to mass communication on the streets, election activities are going on all over Rupganj.

Some are busy preparing to make public meetings successful to reach the voters, while others are directly going to the alleys and participating in exchange of views and street meetings.

The election field of Narayanganj-1 (Rupganj) constituency is bustling. Ahead of the February 12 elections, Rupganj has now become a place of processions, slogans and campaigns. After a long break, BNP and Jamaat candidates have entered the field with full force, creating great curiosity and enthusiasm among the voters of the constituency.

BNP nominated candidate Mostafizur Rahman Bhuiyan Dipu has been conducting mass outreach in every union and ward of the upazila for the past few weeks.

BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman addressed a huge election rally in Gauchia, Rupganj at around 4 pm on Saturday (January 23).

Tarique Rahman urged the voters to cast vote in favor of change this time. Vote with a grain of rice to curb drugs, terrorism and corruption.

Dipu Bhuiyan is promising to eliminate unemployment and modernize the industrial area of Rupganj to attract local young voters. The party's grassroots leaders and workers have taken an oath to unite and 'guard the vote'.

Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Anwar Hossain Mollah is campaigning in a very planned manner.

The Jamaat-e-Islami candidate is promising to make Rupganj free from terrorism and crime centered in Chanpara. They are giving more importance to small courtyard meetings and domestic discussions than large public meetings. The party workers are trying to consolidate the vote bank that Jamaat has in Murapara and Bhulta areas of Rupganj.

Anwar Hossain Mollah is going door to door to the common people and calling for the establishment of Islamic values and justice.

The sky is covered with posters of candidates in Bhulta-Gawsia Market, Kanchan Municipality and Tarabo areas of Rupganj Upazila. However, mild tension has been observed in some areas as BNP and Jamaat are rivals to each other in the electoral field. The district administration said that special security measures have been taken considering Rupganj as 'risky'.

On the other hand, Imdadullah Hashemi is also holding public relations and meetings in different areas. He said, our activities are ongoing to eliminate drug terrorism and irregularities.

BNP's expelled independent candidate Md. Dulal Hossain is also roaming in every corner of Rupganj. Voters are also seeking votes. He is determined to eradicate drugs and corruption.

He said, a class of land robbers are forcibly occupying the land of farmers in Rupganj. Farmers' land must be protected. If farmers do not survive, the country will not survive.
