The 29th death anniversary of esteemed journalist and acclaimed banker Khairul Kabir was observed on Saturday (7 February 2026). Khairul Kabir died in Singapore on this date in 1997 from old age complications. Khairul Kabir was founder Editor of daily Bengali newspaper Dainik Sangbad and he was also one of the pioneers in the establishment of National Press Club in Dhaka.
Khairul Kabir was Vice President of the United Bank of Pakistan. He was also the first Managing Director of Janata Bank. He was a fellow of the American Bankers Association too. Khairul Kabir was one of the founders of Pakistan Art Council which later on became Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy following Bangladesh's liberation in 1971. A milad mahfil was held in Khairul Kabir's ancestral home at Ghorashal commemorating him in prayers by his relatives, friends and family members yesterday.
