On the solemn morning of International Mother Language Day, Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party Director General Major General Abdul Motaleb Sazzad Mahmood, inaugurated a newly constructed national flagpole at the Bangladesh Ansar & VDP Academy in Safipur of Gazipur on Saturday.
The towering structure, now recognized as the tallest flagpole in the country, has been named "Chiro Unnoto Bijoy Nishan" (Ever-High Victory Banner).
The national flag flying atop the 120-foot pole stands as a symbol of patriotism, unity, and dignity, inspiring members undergoing training at the academy to renew their commitment to serving the nation. The initiative reflects the spirit of the Language Movement and reinforces the force's dedication to discipline, responsibility, and love for the country.
The national flag hoisted on the structure measures 28 feet in length and 16.8 feet in width. "Chiro Unnoto Bijoy Nishan" symbolizes Bangladesh's independence, sovereignty, and the eternal legacy of the Liberation War, carrying forward the nation's pride and glory.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, the Director General stated, "As the largest people-oriented force in the country, Bangladesh Ansar and VDP has been playing a vital role in the nation's progress. In the recently held 13th National Parliamentary Election, nearly 570,000 members of the force were deployed - the highest among all related forces."
He further remarked, "Today we commemorate the Language Martyrs and observe International Mother Language Day. Language martyr Abdul Jabbar was a proud platoon commander of this force. His supreme sacrifice for the dignity of our mother tongue continues to inspire every member of the force with patriotism and self-sacrifice."
He added, "'Chiro Unnoto Bijoy Nishan' represents our glorious past and responsible future. This flag will remind each of our members of their solemn oath - to remain ever prepared to safeguard the country's independence and sovereignty."

Ongoing development initiatives at the academy aim to modernize training systems, strengthen discipline, and enhance professional competence to better prepare the force for future challenges.
