India is ready to work closely with Bangladesh: Pranay Verma

Indian High Commissioner to Dhaka Pranay Verma expressed his government's readiness to work closely with the new Bangladesh government to further advance bilateral cooperation recently, diplomatic sources have stated. Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman reiterated Bangladesh's willingness to build a forward-looking and balanced partnership with India based on mutual interest for the benefit of the peoples of both countries.

Both sides agreed to maintain regular and constructive engagement to further strengthen bilateral relations. Indian High Commissioner Pranay Verma extended an invitation from Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar for the Foreign Minister to undertake an official visit to New Delhi at his earliest convenience.

Pakistani High Commissioner Imran Haider conveyed his government's keen interest in working closely with the new Bangladesh government to further strengthen and broaden bilateral ties. Dr. Khalilur Rahman expressed the Bangladesh government's desire to explore new avenues of reciprocal assistance with Pakistan for the welfare of the peoples of both countries. Dr. Khalilur Rahman also underscored Bangladesh's priority for strengthening regional cooperation for the benefits of the citizens of all South Asian nations. The three envoys also met State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaid Islam as part of their schedule.
