The Bangladesh Judo team returned home with the runner-up trophy after winning 4 gold and 1 bronze medals at the 8th NECOS International Judo Championship 2026 held in Kathmandu, Nepal. ??

State Minister for Youth and Sports AminulHaque expressed his heartfelt congratulations to BKSP's judokas for their outstanding success in the '8th NECOS International Judo Championship' held in Kathmandu, Nepal, and to KabihaBushra for being selected as the best player of the tournament.
Expressing his excitement over winning 4 gold and 1 bronze medals and becoming the runner-up in the junior category in the competition held at Naya Bazar in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, the State Minister said:
"This continuous success of our talented judokas on foreign soil is a huge milestone for the sports field of Bangladesh. Especially the way FabihaBushra defeated her opponent in just 4 seconds and 30 seconds to become the best player of the tournament is incredible and a matter of great pride. This gold victory by FabihaBushra, Shaheen Ahmed, Aziza Aleya Lyon and UsachingMarma Vijay and the bronze victory by Remy Hasi will encourage our young athletes to compete on the international stage."
The State Minister further said that 6 players from BKSP participated, each of them fought for a medal and made the country's name shine. He congratulated the players as well as the team's manager, coach and officials for this success.
He expressed hope that if the current government's sports development trend continues, these young people will fly the flag of Bangladesh in big events like the Olympics in the future.
It is worth noting that about 300 judokas from Bangladesh and Bhutan, including 15 clubs from host Nepal, participated in this international tournament organized by the National Judo Association, which is part of the Nepal Sports Federation.
Bangladesh finished the tournament as runners-up in the junior category by winning two more gold medals on the last day of the 8th NECOS International Judo Championship, taking its total to 4 gold medals and 1 bronze.
FabihaBushra won gold in the +70 kg weight category on the third day of the '8th NECOS International Judo Championship' at the Multipurpose Martial Arts Center in Naya Bazar, the capital of Nepal, Kathmandu. In addition, Shahin Ahmed won the men's -73 kg weight category in the last event of the day. Earlier, on the second day of the tournament, Aziza Aleya Lyon won the gold medal in the girls' under-18 cadet +53 weight category, UsachingMarmaBijoy won the gold medal in the boys' cadet +62 category and Remy Hasi won the bronze medal in the girls' -45 category. In the end, Bangladesh accumulated 4 gold medals and 1 bronze. FabihaBushra became the best player of the tournament by defeating her opponent in the semi-finals by 4 seconds in the junior category and in the final by 30 seconds.
About 300 judokas from 15 clubs of host Nepal, Bangladesh and Bhutan participated in this international tournament organized by the National Judo Association under the Nepal Sports Federation. 3 boys and 3 girls participated from Bangladesh. All of them are players of BKSP. Dr. LutfarRahman was in charge as the team manager, Md. Abu BakarSiddique was in charge of the coach and Mymensingh District Sports Officer Al-Amin was in charge as the team official.
