The Prime Minister's Defence Adviser Brigadier General (Retd) AKM Shamsul Islam has been additionally assigned with the duty of looking after the Armed Forces Division (AFD). A gazette notification to this end was issued from the Cabinet Division on Monday (6 April 2026).
The gazette notification states that the jurisdictions and responsibilities of the Prime Minister's Advisers were shuffled through office orders issued on 17 February and 24 February 2026 according to the guidelines of the Prime Minister.
Aligning with the Prime Minister's latest orders, Defence Adviser Brigadier General (Retd) AKM Shamsul Islam's duty has been once again rescheduled through the official directives circulated by the Cabinet Division yesterday.
