Journalists working for various media outlets in Mymensingh boycotted the program of Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon after they were asked to leave the event venue. The incident took place at around 12 noon on Monday at the Tarek Smriti Auditorium of Mymensingh Town Hall.
The journalists present said, "When we were preparing for the event, Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon entered the event and said, "There is no need for journalists to stay, you should leave."
The education minister said, "I will talk to journalists at the Dak Bungalow of the Circuit House."
After this incident, several teachers present forcibly and pushed us out of the auditorium. Journalists alleged that some even tried to 'punch'. Immediately after this incident, journalists from various print and electronic media boycotted the education minister's program and stood outside.
Regarding the incident, Mymensingh Press Club General Secretary Abdul Qayyum said, "Mymensingh Education Board invited journalists to cover the program. The journalists went to the program on time. But at one stage, the education minister behaved disrespectfully with the journalists. Then the teachers behaved even more indecent."
"We have boycotted the news coverage of the program in protest and condemn the indecent behavior", he said.
It has been learnt that on Monday, a meeting of the education minister with the central secretaries of the Mymensingh Education Board and the Madrasa and Technical Education Board of the Mymensingh region was held on the occasion of the SSC and equivalent examinations-2026.
The journalists said that the incident took place around the program.
