A preparatory meeting was held in Dinajpur on Tuesday to celebrate Pahela Baishakh, the Bangla New Year 1433, in a festive and befitting manner.
On behalf of the Deputy Commissioner Md. Rafiqul Islam, ADC (General) Dinajpur Municipality Administrator Md. Riaz Uddin chaired the meeting at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner. Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) SM Habibul Hasan, District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer Engineer Md Anisur Rahman and Additional Superintendent of Police Md Anwar Hossain addressed the program as guests of honor. 250-bed Dinajpur General Hospital Superintendent Dr Md Sirajul Islam, District Civil Surgeon's Office Medical Officer Dr. Sadman Shakib, Dinajpur Chamber President Alhaj Abu Bakkar Siddique, District BNP Office Secretary Professor Md. Akhruzzaman Akhter, Dinajpur Press Club General Secretary Golam Nabi Dulal, Dinajpur Natya Samity General Secretary Rezaur Rahman Reju, Secretary of Bangladesh Scouts Dinajpur District Akram Hossain Bablu, acting Member Secretary of the Jatiya Nagorik Party-NCP Dinajpur Committee Nishad Chowdhury, Member Secretary of Baisakhi Mela Festival Celebration Council Sultan Kamal Uddin Bachchu and Dinajpur Nabarupi Shamim Raja, among others, spoke at the meeting.
The decision was taken in the meeting to inaugurate the Bangla New Year's Eve at Dinajpur Academy School on April 14 at 8 am on Pahela Baishakh.
A colorful Baisakhi procession will start from Academy School to Dinajpur Boro Math Mela at 9 am and the week-long fair will be inaugurated.
In addition, after the procession, a Panta Bhat will be organized at Dinajpur Station Club. There will be small and cottage industry shops at the week-long fair and various programs will be organized by various cultural organizations of Dinajpur and the fair will be closed by 7 pm every day.
