A pre-dawn robbery attempt involving an auto-rickshaw was successfully thwarted in the capital’s Mohakhali area, thanks to the prompt and courageous response of patrolling members of the Bangladesh Ansar.
The operation led to the arrest of three members of an organized robbery gang along with the recovered auto-rickshaw, highlighting the force’s professionalism and vigilance in ensuring urban security.
At approximately 4:15 AM on Friday, Ansar members stationed at the National Institute of Diseases of the Chest and Hospital camp in Mohakhali were conducting routine patrol duties when they heard a man shouting for help.
Upon reaching the scene, they found an individual with his mouth tied. Initial questioning revealed that an organized gang had hijacked an auto-rickshaw and fled the scene, posing as the driver and passengers.Acting immediately under the leadership of the APC (Ansar Platoon Commander), the team pursued the suspects and successfully apprehended three individuals along with the stolen vehicle.
The arrested individuals have been identified as:
Md. Riazul Islam (27), son of Nizam Uddin, from Paikerchar, Bancharampur, Brahmanbaria
Md. Raju Mia (20), son of late Nazrul Islam, from Holdia, Gouripur, Mymensingh
Md. Rajon Mia (30), son of Md. Ohidul Islam, from Sarishabari, Jamalpur.
During the operation, law enforcers recovered one auto-rickshaw, two knives, and two feature (button) mobile phones. The Ansar personnel who took part in the operation included APC Md. Aminul Islam, Ansar members Md. Abdul Jalil, Md. Kamran, and Md. Ohiduzzaman. The recovered auto-rickshaw has been returned to its rightful owner, while the arrested suspects have been handed over to Tejgaon Police Station. Legal proceedings against them are currently underway.
