Duronto TV has announced a lineup of special programs to mark Pahela Baishakh, featuring music, drama and cooking shows to celebrate the Bengali New Year, according to the broadcaster.
A special musical program titled “Baishakh Elo Re” will be aired on April 14 at 12 noon and 8pm.
The program includes New Year songs and poetry performances with choreographed sequences. It is directed by Monirul Hossain Shipon, with dance performances by Mohammad Hanif and artists from the cultural organization Sadhana.
Vocal performances will be delivered by Sunipun Barua Chowdhury, Ira Roy and Prachya.
Duronto TV will also broadcast a festival drama, “Hoi Hoi Halla – Season 3,” on Pahela Baishakh at 9am and 9pm.
The drama, directed by Partha Pratim Halder, follows events involving children at the house of a character named Dr Safdar Chowdhury, centered on New Year celebrations and a planned trip to a village home.
The cast includes child artists Afra, Sayan, Riddhi, Turrya, Ri Juni and Kawsa, along with Abul Hayat, Shahnaz Khushi and Farhad Limon.
A special episode of the cooking show “Banai Mazhar Khabar Ma Baba Aar Ami – Season 3” will also air on Pahela Baishakh at 12:30pm and 4:30pm.
The program features a child participating with a parent while preparing traditional dishes associated with the festival, including patisapta pitha, mustard hilsa and dab sharbat.
The episode includes Tahsina Rahman Mithi and her mother as guests.
The show is directed by Amina Nowshin Raisar and hosted by culinary artist Afifa Akhtar Lita.
In addition to these programs, Duronto TV will broadcast a music show titled “Ranger Khelay Surer Bhelay” at 7:30am and 6:30pm, and a dance program “Baishakhi Rang” at 8:30am on the first day of Baishakh.
According to Duronto TV, the programming lineup is designed to mark the Bengali New Year with a range of cultural content.
