Emon begins rehab to become fully fit for NZ T20Is

Bangladesh opening batter ParvezHossainEmon began rehab to recover from a right shoulder injury sustained in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), with Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) medical officials expressing hopes over his availability for the upcoming international assignment.

National team physioBayjedul Islam Khan confirmed that Emon picked up the injury on April 3 while representing his PSL franchise Lahore Qalandars. 

Medical assessments suggest the injury is not severe, though it is expected to require approximately three weeks for full recovery.

"Following an assessment of ParvezHossainEmon, who returned from Pakistan with a right shoulder injury sustained on April 3 during fielding, it appears to be an injury that may require approximately three weeks for recovery," the physio said.

He added that Emon, who is the vital cog in Bangladesh's T20 squad, has already begun a structured rehabilitation program under the supervision of the BCB's medical and coaching staff. 

"He will now undergo rehabilitation and functional skill training under the close monitoring of the BCB medical and coaching staff," he added.

"We are hopeful of his recovery in time for the upcoming T20 International series against New Zealand later this month." Earlier, ParvezHossainEmon was ruled out of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) following a shoulder injury.

He sustained the injury during 

hislast game against Multan Sultans in Lahore after an on-field collision with Asif Ali resulted in his ligament tear.

Emon played three matches for Lahore Qalandar in his maiden appearance in PSL, making 71 runs in three matches at a strike rate of 161.36, which included a 19-ball 45 against Multan.

 "Parvez sustained the injury following an on-field collision with Asif Ali during the match against Multan Sultans at Gaddafi Stadium on April 3. Subsequent MRI scans confirmed a ligament tear, and he has been advised to undergo a period of rest and rehabilitation over the coming weeks," said Lahore Qalandars  in a press release.

"Following a careful assessment, it has been decided to release him from the squad, with a replacement to be announced in due course," it further read.

Emon who is a regular member in Bangladesh's T20I setup was issued a No Objection Certificate by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for the PSL till April 21. He was asked to return for the T20I series against the Kiwis,  beginning on April 27.
