UK High Commissioner meets IGP

High Commissioner of United Kingdom (UK) Sarah Cooke on Wednesday paid a courtesy call on Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md. Ali Hossain Fakir at the Police Headquarters. 

During the meeting, the UK High Commissioner congratulated the newly appointed IGP and expressed interest in supporting capacity-building initiatives for the Bangladesh Police. 

She highlighted areas such as tackling organized international crimes, irregular migration, human trafficking, money laundering, visa fraud, and verification of forged documents as key sectors for potential training and cooperation.

Sarah Cooke also showed interest in sharing the UK's experience in police reform to assist Bangladesh in strengthening its law enforcement framework.

The IGP welcomed the UK's willingness of cooperation and briefed the High Commissioner on Bangladesh Police's short-, medium-, and long-term reform plans. 

He emphasized the importance of international support, particularly from the United Kingdom, in enhancing the force's overall capacity and effectiveness.
