A ceremony was held in the RC Majumder Arts Auditorium in Dhaka University on Wednesday (15 April 2026) titled “Bonge Forashi Bhasha O Shahitto Chorchar Itihash” (The History of Practicing Persian Language and Literature in Bengal). The book has been authored by eminent historian Mohammad Abdul Hye. It contains 592 pages with a lot of references and valuable information for inquisitive students and teachers. Syed Reza Mir Mohammadi, Cultural Counselor of Iranian Embassy in Dhaka wrote the preamble to the book.
Professor Dr. Harun Ur Rashid Askari, former Vice Chancellor of Islamic University Bangladesh and ex Director General of Bangla Academy inaugurated the program. Dr. M Abdul Aziz, Managing Director of Academia Publishing House Limited gave the welcome speech.
Several academic scholars with expertise on Persian language and literature addressed the event including Professor Dr. KM Saiful Islam Khan, Professor Dr. Kamal Uddin, Professor Dr. Nurey Alam and Director of Baitush Sharf Islamic Research Center Dr. Muhammad Isa Shahedi.
The program was presided over by Dr. Mumit Al Rashid, Chairman, Department of Persian Language and Literature, Dhaka University. Professor Dr. Abul Kalam Sarker, Acting Dean of Arts Faculty, Dhaka University attended the event as the chief guest.
