Crackdown on illegal soil cutting in Satkania; 3 excavators disabled

A mobile court drive against illegal earth cutting in Satkania upazila led to the disabling of three excavators and seizure of several dump trucks early in the morning.

According to the upazila administration sources, the operation was conducted from 4:30 am to 7:30 am across multiple areas. At Napiter Char, one excavator and three dump trucks were identified, while two additional excavators were found operating near Zafar Ahmed Chowdhury College in the Moulvir Dokan area.

Authorities said three excavators used in illegal earth extraction were rendered inoperable on the spot to prevent further use. Sensing the presence of the mobile court, several workers and drivers fled the scene.

Local residents alleged that illegal earth cutting had been ongoing in the locality for a long time, posing serious threats to the environment and agricultural land. The upazila administration stated that such drives will continue as part of ongoing efforts to protect the environment and curb illegal activities
