4 drug dealers fined Tk 55,000 in Kalapara
Gofran Palash, Kalapara (Patuakhali): A mobile court in Kalapara, Patuakhali, imposed a fine of Tk 55,000 on 4 drug dealers. The mobile court headed by Executive Magistrate and Assistant Commissioner (Land) Yasin Sadek issued the fine on Monday afternoon. The Drug Superintendent, Patuakhali, was present during the operation.

The pharmacies that received the fines are Pragati Medical Hall, National Pharmacy, a pharmacy owned by Ibrahim Khalil, president of the local Drug and Chemist Association, and Meherun Medical Hall. These 4 pharmacies were fined a total of Tk 55,000/- for not maintaining the antibiotic register as per section 40(d) of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 2023 and serial number 22 of the table of the schedule.

During this time, awareness campaigns were also conducted regarding expired medicines, veterinary medicines, prescribed temperature control, storage of medicines in epoxy-enclosed rooms, verification of proper invoices, and sale of medicines without DAR/MA number.

Kalapara Assistant Commissioner (Land) Yasin Sadek said that the upazila administration's strict campaign against drug pharmacies and diagnostic centers will continue.
