Thousands of devotees bathed in the sea at Kuakata beach in the hope of attaining eternal merit on the Shukla Tritiya, the third day of the Shukla Paksha of the month of Baishakh in the Hindu calendar. On Monday (April 20) at 10 am, the Akshaya Tritiyavratam Sanatana Dharma Sammelan of the International Haribhavanamurta Sangha and Ashram organized a call from 5 am, a congregational prayer, the establishment of a Mangalaghat, Sri Sri Vishnu Puja, and the worship of Ganga Maa, and then a Ganga bath was held at Sagarkanya Kuakata beach.
They believe that this is a special date for followers of Hinduism and Jainism. On this auspicious day, the sixth incarnation of Vishnu, Parashurama, was born, hence this day is also celebrated as Parashurama Jayanti. Veda Vyas and Ganesha started writing the Mahabharata on this day. On this day, the Satya Yuga ended and the Treta Yuga began. On this day, King Bhagirath brought Ganga Devi to earth.
The event, presided over by Engineer Nihar Ranjan, was graced by the chief guest, Sri Sri Jayadeva Thakur, founder of the International Haribhavnamrit Sangha and Ashram. Thakur's wife Harapriya Devi and Param Pujyapad Ritwik Maharaj Dr. Radhaswami were present as the special guests.
Dr. Paritosh Roy, President of International Haribhavnamrit Sangha and Ashram and Bagerhat District Animal Resources Officer, Siddiqur Rahman, former Chairman of Nalchiti Upazila of Jhalakathi were also present there. Devotees Gaur Govinda Das, Shri Shyamal Sundar Das, Shri Govinda Debnath and Jaydev devotees from different parts of the country also gave Bhagavad Gita talks at the event. The event was conducted by Ratan Jyoti Das Brahmachari.
Sources say that every year, devotees of Sanatan Dharma from far and wide come to take a bath in the Ganges. At this time, the Kuakata sea beach is filled with the noise of thousands of people. On the beach, many are seen reciting the Gita with their families after taking a bath, while others are immersed in religious rituals and practices including prayers.
Gaur Govinda Das Brahmachari, who came from Pirojpur, said that taking a bath in the Ganges on this day can achieve eternal virtue. This On this day, Narayana himself resides in the Ganges. So if you bathe in the Ganges on this day, then sorrow and disease are completely removed from your life and your life will be filled with happiness and prosperity.
