Thousands of devotees bathe in Kuakata sea in hope of attaining eternal virtue

Thousands of followers of Sanatan Dharma took a sea bath at Kuakata sea beach on the Shukla Tritiya, the third day of the Shukla Paksha of the month of Baishakh in the Hindu calendar, hoping to attain Akshaya merit.

On Monday at 10 am, the Akshaya Tritiyavratam Sanatan Dharma Sammelan of the International Haribhavnamrut Sangha and Ashram organized a Ganga bath at Sagarkanya Kuakata sea beach after the call, congregational prayers, installation of Mangalaghat, Sri Sri Vishnu Puja, and Ganga Maa Puja from 5 am.

They believe that this is a very significant date for Hindus and Jains. On this auspicious day, Parashurama, the sixth avatar of Vishnu, was born, hence this day is also celebrated as Parashurama Jayanti.

Veda Vyas and Ganesha started writing the Mahabharata on this day. On this day, the Satya Yuga ended and the Treta Yuga began. On this day, King Bhagiratha brought Ganga Devi to earth.

The event was presided over by Engineer Nihar Ranjan and was graced by the chief guest, Sri Sri Jayadeva Thakur, founder of the International Haribhavnamrut Sangha and Ashram. The special guests were Thakur's wife Harapriya Devi and His Holiness Ritwik Maharaj Dr Radhaswami.
