Former Adviser to a caretaker government and famed educationist Rasheda K Chowdhury has stated that the immediate past interim government miserably failed to uphold the dignity of teachers and to resist the vicious rise in mob violence.
Rasheda K Chowdhury made these comments in a write-up published in daily Bengali newspaper Kaler Kantho on 21 April 2026. She wrote that teachers in various academic institutions including schools, colleges and universities were publicly subjected to disrespect and ignominy during the ruling period of the interim government.
Rasheda K Chowdhury remarked that the degenerated culture of assaulting teachers in broad daylight happened over and over again during the 19 months while the interim government was in power. She also condemned the interim government for instigating mob lynching across Bangladesh and regretted that a lot of people were beaten up and killed by mob outfits.
Two major newspaper offices were burned and demolished in December 2025 by mobsters. Renowned cultural institutions also were vandalized and plundered by mob gangs. Mob groups and teen gangs attacked women and girls too while several occurrences of gang rape hit news headlines frequently during the reign of the interim government.
