Three brick kilns fined Tk 4 lakh in Kalapara
A mobile court has fined Tk 4 lakh while conducting raids on three illegally established brick kilns in Kalapara of Patuakhali.
The raid was conducted in the Nachnapara area of the upazila on Wednesday (April 22) afternoon.
Executive Magistrate Md. Tamim Nur Islam led the raid. Assistant Director of the Department of Environment, Patuakhali District Office, Lovana Jamil, along with fire service and police members were present.
Desh Bricks was fined Tk 2 lakh in the raid. In addition, raw bricks were crushed, the chimney was demolished and the brick kiln operations were declared clos?ed. In addition, Bhai Bhai Bricks was fined Tk 1 lakh and Bismillah Bricks was fined Tk 1 lakh.
The Department of Environment said that action has been taken against three brick kilns under Section 15 of the Brick Manufacturing and Kiln Establishment (Control) Act, 2013 (Amended 2019) for violating Section 5(2).
The source said that such operations against brick kilns operating illegally in violation of environmental rules will continue.
