Members of Bangladesh Coast Guard have arrested a notorious terrorist in Teknaf of Cox's Bazar, along with a foreign pistol, live ammunition and domestic weapons.
Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujan revealed the information on Saturday noon.
He said, "Acting on a tip-off, a special operation was conducted by Coast Guard Station Teknaf at 3am on Saturday in the area adjacent to Sikder Para under Teknaf Police Station in Cox's Bazar. During the operation, 1 7.65 mm.
foreign pistol, 1 magazine, 1 round of live ammunition and 3 domestic weapons were seized from the said area and 1 notorious terrorist was arrested.
The arrested terrorist, Md. Rasel (36) alias Don Rasel, is a resident of Sikder Para under Teknaf Police Station in Cox's Bazar.
Initial interrogation revealed that he had been involved in drug, human trafficking and terrorist activities for a long time. In addition, he had been intimidation, extortion, terrorism and chaos in the area by showing weapons. There are a total of 8 cases of human trafficking, drugs and weapons against him. To mention, he had been arrested several times before by Teknaf Police Station with a large amount of Yaba. The process of taking further legal action against the seized weapons and the arrested accused is under process.
The Coast Guard will continue such operations in future to maintain country's law and order situation, the media officer added.
