2nd meeting of library committee of 13th JS held

The second meeting of the Library Committee of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad was held on Sudnay at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban with the committee Chairman and Deputy Speaker Barrister Kayser Kamal in the chair.

Members of the committee including Whip A.B.M. Ashraf Uddin (Nizan), Dr. Md. Mahbubur Rahman, Nayab Yousuf Ahmed, Mir Ahmad Bin Quasem, A.B.M. Mosharraf Hossain, Humam Quader Chowdhury, and Md. Nazibur Rahman attended the meeting, reports BSS.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Chairman welcomed all participants and formally commenced the proceedings. The committee then reviewed the implementation progress of decisions taken in the previous meeting, said a press release.

The meeting held detailed discussions on strengthening collaboration between the Bangladesh Institute of Parliamentary Studies (BIPS) and the Jatiya Sangsad Library.  Emphasis was placed on enhancing capacity development for Members of Parliament and officials of the Parliament Secretariat, as well as strengthening research activities.

The committee also recommended necessary budget allocations for the sub-committee formed to digitize old and rare documents preserved in the Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad Library, with a view to ensuring their proper preservation and easy accessibility.

Furthermore, a three-member sub-committee was formed to review and examine the reconstitution of the governing board of the Bangladesh Institute of Parliamentary Studies under the relevant law. Dr. Md. Mahbubur Rahman was appointed as the convener of the sub-committee, while Nayab Yousuf Ahmed and Md. Nazibur Rahman were made its members.

In addition, another sub-committee was formed to review the Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad Library Rules-2012 and the Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad Research Policy-2023 and to submit a report at the next meeting. 

Nayab Yousuf Ahmed was appointed as the convener of this sub-committee, with Md. Nazibur Rahman as its member.

The meeting also recommended that the Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad Library Bulletin, published by the Parliament Library, be circulated to all Members of Parliament and all ministries.

Officials of Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat were present at the meeting.
