'Vested group spreading SSC question paper leak rumors'
Prime Minister's Adviser on Education, Primary and Mass Education Mahdi Amin has said a certain quarter is spreading propaganda by circulating question paper leak rumors during the ongoing Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations.
"A dishonest quarter is trying to create confusion and moral degradation among students and guardians by spreading rumors of question paper leaks using digital platforms," he said, adding that cyber surveillance and digital tracking systems have been strengthened to counter such attempts.
Mahdi Amin, also the spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office made the remarks in a post shared on his verified Facebook page on Sunday morning, reports BSS.
He said the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested four members of a fraud gang in the past few days for reportedly embezzling money by creating fake question papers and circulating those. The arrestees tried to disrupt a transparent and fair examination system, the adviser said, adding that if any one tries to carry out malicious activities through digital means, they will be immediately identified and brought to justice.
He said an analysis of the issue of question-paper leak that came to light in a report by a private television channel shows that it is not a real question-paper leak, but a well-planned fraud.
He also said due to mistakes and lack of evidence in the report, the concerned television channel has removed the report on its own responsibility.
Mahdi Amin added that the country's education system was systematically destroyed during the past 16 years of fascist regime.
"During that time, the textbooks distorted history and gave priority to party loyalty over merit. However, the incumbent elected government is trying to reorganise the education sector. Many steps have already been taken, under the Prime Minister's instructions, to develop skilled human resources," he said.
The adviser urged students and guardians to remain alert and not to be misled by rumours regarding question paper leak.
