The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) has taken strong initiatives to ensure foolproof security arrangements in eight airports all over Bangladesh including Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA). This step was taken after Police Headquarters warned all concerned about militancy a few days ago.
CAAB Chairman Air Vice Marshal Mostafa Mahmud Siddique conveyed this information to journalists during a press briefing on Monday (27 April 2026). The CAAB chief informed reporters that strengthening security bulwark around airports is part of their routine work.
Police Headquarters informed last week that a banned fanatical outfit might try to launch attacks on certain key point installations in Dhaka city and other parts of Bangladesh. However, no radical gang was named in the statement from police force. Police personnel have meanwhile arrested one individual over suspected connection with extremists.
It may be added that Immigration Police, Armed Police Battalion (APBN), Ansar-VDP and different intelligence divisions often remain deployed in all airports throughout Bangladesh.
