The University of Dhaka signed two separate Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) on Monday with Amra Nari and Academy of Garments Technology Bangladesh (GarmentTechBD) to strengthen collaboration in education, research, skills development, women’s empowerment, youth leadership, and industry-academia engagement.
The agreements were signed on behalf of their respective organizations by University Treasurer Professor Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Founder and Chief Coordinator of Amra Nari M M Jahidur Rahman, and Strategic Partner of GarmentTechBD Dr. Henry Su.
Among those present at the signing ceremony were University Proctor Professor Saifuddin Ahmed, Acting Registrar Munshi Shams Uddin Ahmed, Adviser to the Student Promotion and Support Unit Professor Dr. Mohammad Shariyat Ullah, Treasurer of Amra Nari Tasnuva Arefin, Adviser to GarmentTechBD Abdus Salam, along with other concerned officials. Through these MoUs, the parties will jointly undertake various initiatives focused on knowledge exchange, capacity building, innovation, social awareness, and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Under the agreement with Amra Nari, collaborative programs will be launched in women’s empowerment, youth leadership development, public health awareness, research, cultural activities, and community development. Students will have opportunities to participate as volunteers, interns, or project assistants, while faculty members may contribute as advisers, trainers, mentors, and research collaborators.
Meanwhile, the MoU with GarmentTechBD will create opportunities for students in simulation-based learning, training programs, workshops, boot camps, competitions, e-learning, research projects, and internships. Students will also be engaged in initiatives related to Digital Product Passport (DPP), circular economy practices, and participation in international competitions. The University’s Student Promotion and Support Unit (SPSU) will serve as the local coordinating body for implementing both agreements.
