World Veterinary Day celebrated at HSTU

Like every year, World Veterinary Day-2026 was celebrated at Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science & Technology University (HSTU) in a festive atmosphere.

Various programs were organized on the occasion of the day, including a colorful rally and a day-long free veterinary medical camp, on the university campus.

Organized by the university's Veterinary Teaching Hospital on Monday, the day's program was inaugurated by HSTU Vice Chancellor Professor M. Enamullah.

A colorful rally was taken out under his leadership, which circled the main roads of the university.

Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Shafiqul Islam Sikder, Treasurer Professor Dr M Jahangir Kabir, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Science Professor Dr. Rakibul Islam, Registrar Professor Dr. Md. Abu Hasan and Director of the Student Counseling and Guidance Department Professor Dr SM Emdadul Hasan took part in the rally. In addition, a large number of teachers, students, officers and employees of the said faculty spontaneously participated in the rally.

While inaugurating a free veterinary medical camp, HSTU Vice Chancellor Professor M. Enamullah said, "Organizing this free medical camp on the occasion of World Veterinary Day is a very great initiative. Through this, not only are our students able to gain knowledge about animal diseases and pests first-hand, but local farmers are also directly benefiting from free medical services."

He further expressed optimism that these public welfare and service programs on behalf of HSTU will continue in the future.

He urged all concerned to be more active in providing services to the doorsteps of marginal farmers, especially at the field level.

To mention, the day-long program on the occasion of the day included free health check-ups of cattle, vaccination against various diseases and scientific advice on animal husbandry. Hundreds of cattle were brought under this service under the supervision of experienced doctors of the university.

The speakers at the event laid special emphasis on the role of veterinarians in protecting livestock.
