Female farmer dies in Kalapara due to lightning

Gofran Palash, Kalapara (Patuakhali): A female  farmer named Setara Begum (55) died in Kalapara, Patuakhali due to the sound of lightning. The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon in Purba Chakamiya village of Chakamiya union of the Upazila. At that time, she was going to feed her cow in an open field next to her house.

After the incident, locals rescued her and brought her to the Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared her dead. The deceased Setara is said to be the wife of Md. Badsha Mia of that village.

Meanwhile, local sources have said that at least half a hundred cows of farmers died in lightning strikes in different unions of the upazila on Tuesday and Wednesday.
