Members of Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) seized 185 bottles of foreign liquor worth about Tk 70 lakh in Patenga of Chattogram.
Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujan confirmed the matter on Thursday.
He said, "Acting on a tip-off, a special operation was conducted by the Coast Guard Outpost Patenga in the area adjacent to Akmal Ali Switch Gate under EPZ Police Station in Chattogram at 4 am on Thursday. During the drive, a total of 185 bottles of various types of foreign liquor worth about Tk 70 lakh were seized from the said area. At that time, no one could be arrested as the drug smugglers fled after sensing the presence of the Coast Guard. Further legal action regarding seized foreign liquor is underway." The Coast Guard will continue such operations in future to protect the young generation from the terrible clutches of drugs, the media officer added.
