Two children drown in Rupganj
Two children died after falling into pond water while playing in Rupganj of Narayanganj.
The tragic incident took place in the Sonabo area of Bhulta Union of the upazila on Saturday afternoon.
The deceased have been identified as Fariha, 12, daughter of Din Islam of Rafin Nagar area of Dirai upazila of Sunamganj district and Tumpa, 8, daughter of Masud Mia of the same area.
Eyewitnesses and locals said that around 1:30pm on Saturday, children Faria and Tumpa were playing on the banks of Motin Mia's pond in Sonabo area. At one stage, they fell into the pond and drowned. Later, some locals saw them and started screaming. Later, the locals recovered the bodies of children Fariha and Tumpa from the pond. The death of two children has cast a shadow of grief over the families and locals.
