78th Founding Anniversary of IEB Celebrated in Chapainawabganj

Chapainawabganj Correspondent: The 78th founding anniversary of the Institution ofEngineers, Bangladesh (IEB), the country’s oldest and only nationalprofessional organization for engineers, was celebrated in Chapainawabganj withcolorful arrangements as “Engineers Day.” On Thursday (May 7), various programswere organized by the IEB Chapainawabganj Sub-Center to mark the occasion.


The programs included the hoisting of the nationalflag and the IEB flag in the morning. Later, the celebration was officiallyinaugurated through the release of pigeons as a symbol of peace and therecitation of the oath.

A rally was also brought out from the premises ofthe Public Works Department. The procession paraded through different roads ofthe town before ending at the office chamber of the Executive Engineer of thePublic Works Department, where a discussion meeting was held.

The discussion meeting was chaired by Md. AnwarHossain, Chairman of IEB Chapainawabganj Sub-Center and Executive Engineer ofthe Local Government Engineering Department (LGED).

 

Among the speakers were Md. Al Mamunur Rashid,Vice-President of the organization and Executive Engineer of the BarindMultipurpose Development Authority (BMDA) and Amit Kumar Dev, Secretary of theorganization and Executive Engineer of the Public Works Department.

Speakers at the meeting called for united efforts toestablish the professional rights of engineers and to build a developed andprosperous Bangladesh. Engineers from nearly all government and privatedepartments were present at the event.
