Australian HC meets State Minister for Food

An Australian delegation led by High Commissioner Susan Ryle on Thursday paid a courtesy call on State Minister for Food and Public Administration Mohammad Abdul Bari at his office at the Ministry of Food.

During the meeting, they discussed various issues relating to bilateral interests, food security, and enhancement of mutual cooperation in food management.

The State Minister informed the delegation of the government's initiatives to ensure food security in Bangladesh.

He said the present government has been working relentlessly to further strengthen the country's food stock and supply system, giving special importance to food preservation and modern warehouse management, BSS reports.

He added that the government remains committed to ensuring food security for all citizens of the country.

The State Minister told the envoy that ensuring safe food for all people is one of the government's major challenges, and the government has been working continuously to achieve this goal.

Mentioning that the problem cannot be solved in a single day, he said the government has already taken various necessary measures and efforts are continuing in phases, with cooperation from all concerned to ensure food safety for all.

The Australian High Commissioner thanked the State Minister and highly praised Bangladesh's success in the area of socio-economic development.
The envoy informed the state minister that at present, around 28 thousand Bangladeshi students are studying in Australia.

Australian Deputy High Commissioner Clinton Pobke, Secretary (Economic) Joshua Gekutan, Food Secretary Abu Taher Mohammad Masud Rana, and senior officials of the Ministry of Food were present.
