Six policemen including two sub-inspectors (SIs) and four police constables of Fatullah Model Police Station in Narayanganj Sadar Upazila have been withdrawn. Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Operations) of Narayanganj District Police Tarek Al Mehedi confirmed the matter on Friday (May 8). Earlier, on Thursday, six policemen were withdrawn and attached to the police lines on the orders of Narayanganj District Superintendent of Police Mizanur Rahman Munshi.
The two withdrawn police officers are Sub-Inspector (SI) Abul Bashar and Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Ashique of Fatullah Model Police Station. However, the names of the constables are not known.
They have been withdrawn in connection with the recent attack on the police and snatching away arrested five criminals with handcuffs.
It has been learnt that on Wednesday afternoon, a team from Fatullah Model Police Station went to the spot after receiving information about the looting of the house of former police constable Md. Solaiman in Hashembagh, West Masdair area of Fatullah. Four constables, including two retired police officers, were present there. The police, who went to the spot, arrested five terrorists while looting and handcuffed them and recovered several pieces of furniture while looting.
Upon receiving the information, the accomplices of the arrested armed themselves and attacked the police and snatched the five arrested people along with the handcuffs from the police. After attacking the police and snatching the five criminals along with the handcuffs, the Fatullah Model Police Station conducted a raid in Hashembagh area of West Masdair. In the raid conducted on Thursday (May 7) morning, a terrorist was arrested from an abandoned tin shed house adjacent to the house of a lawyer named Gias Uddin Ukil in Hashembagh Taslimpatti area of West Deobhog.
The arrestee has been identified as Rony, son of Kalu Mia of Kashipur area of Fatullah.
Fifteen steel swords, four swords with wooden hilts, a knife and an axe were recovered from the house.
There are several cases against him, said Fatullah Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mahabub Alam.
