Police tirelessly working to maintain law and order, curb crime: IGP

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md. Ali Hossain Fakir on Tuesday said that misuse of drugs poses a major challenge to the country's youth and future generations. 

Police are working with utmost sincerity and efficiency to combat this challenge, he said while addressing as the chief guest a function organized to present IGP badges, shield parade awards and prizes for illegal arms recovery and drugs at Rajarbagh Police Lines in Dhaka, reports BSS.

The IGP firmly warned that if any member of the police force is found involved in drug use or trafficking, no leniency will be shown.

He said that the police force is a traditional and professional unit whose members are working tirelessly to maintain the law and order, ensure public safety and curb crime across the country. 

He noted that the award-winning police personnel have further enriched the force's proud legacy through their courage, dedication and professionalism. He also called upon all members of the force to serve the country with greater commitment. 

At the function, 341 police personnel were awarded the "Police Force Exemplary Good Service Badge-2025" in recognition of their outstanding and commendable performance from March 1, 2025, to February 28, 2026. The IGP personally handed over the badges to the recipients.

As part of Police Week-2026, awards were also presented to police units that achieved notable success in recovering illegal firearms between January 1 and December 31, 2025.

In the illegal firearms recovery category, group A, Chattogram District Police secured first place, followed by Chattogram Metropolitan Police in second and Cumilla District Police in the third.

 In group B, Cox's Bazar District Police ranked first, Kushtia District Police second and Khulna Metropolitan Police secured the third position.

In group C, Rajbari District Police came first, Magura District Police second and APBN third.

In group D, RAB-11 Narayanganj secured the first place, RAB-15 Cox's Bazar second place and RAB-2 Dhaka third place.  In group E, Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) ranked first, its Tejgaon division second and Mirpur Division DMP captured third position.

Awards were also presented for achievements in narcotics recovery during 2025.

 In group A, Mymensingh District Police secured first place, Cumilla District Police second and Chattogram District Police third.

In group B, Brahmanbaria District Police ranked first, Cox's Bazar District Police second while Habiganj District Police secured third position.

In group C, Lalmonirhat District Police secured first place, Sherpur District Police second and Gazipur District Police third.

In group D, RAB-15 Cox's Bazar ranked first, RAB-9 Sylhet second and RAB-11 Narayanganj third.

In group E, Wari Division of the DMP secured first place, Tejgaon Division second and Motijheel Division third.

In group F, Highway Police ranked first, Railway Police second while APBN secured third position.

In the Shield Parade competition, the Joint Metropolitan Team secured first place, the APBN Team came second and the Industrial Police Team finished third.
