60 kilograms hemp seized in Homna

A private car carrying 60 kilograms of hemp was seized in Homna of Cumilla, while it was fleeing after ignoring a police signal. However, the driver managed to escape. On Tuesday morning, a police team led by sub-inspector (SI) Mosleh Uddin, ASI Amirul Islam of Homna Police Station set up a temporary check post in the Saddam Bazar area of Mathabhanga Union. At that time, the police signaled a suspicious white private car to stop.

Ignoring the police signal, the car tried to flee at high speed towards Meghna Police Station. The police chased the car and managed to arrest it in the Manikarchar area of the neighboring Meghna Police Station. The driver quickly fled. Later, the car was searched and 60 kg of marijuana was recovered from the cabinet behind it.

Thomas Barua, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Homna Police Station, said, "The seized hemp and the private car are in the custody of the police station."
A case has been filed under the Narcotics Control Act in this incident. Efforts are ongoing to identify and arrest the absconding driver, the OC added.
