Huge crowd joins Mosharraf Hossain's funeral in Chattogram
 
Thousands gathered in Chattogram to attend the funeral prayer of veteran politician and freedom fighter Mosharraf Hossain. The funeral prayer was held today, Thursday, at 11:00 am at the Jamiatul Falah National Mosque premises in the city. Later, party supporters and activists bid him farewell with chants of "Joy Bangla."

Among those attending the funeral were Shahadat Hossain, Mayor of Chattogram City Corporation; former mayor and central leader of the Jatiya Party Mahmudul Islam Chowdhury; the deceased's eldest son Sabedur Rahman Somu; along with people from various political parties and professions.

Earlier, when the body was brought to the mosque premises, crowds gathered to pay their final respects and catch a last glimpse of the veteran politician. The coffin became covered with flowers. Leaders from different parties delivered speeches recalling the former minister's political career and development work.

In a brief speech, Chattogram City Corporation Mayor and BNP leader Shahadat Hossain said, "Former minister Mosharraf Hossain had a distinguished political career. Throughout his political life, he made significant contributions to the development of greater Chattogram. Though he was a son of Mirsharai, he worked for the welfare of the entire Chattogram region. People will remember him for his contributions to the city's development."
General Secretary of the North District Awami League Sheikh Ataur Rahman said, "His role in the Liberation War of 1971 must always be remembered. He is no longer among us. I spent my whole life doing politics alongside him."
