In a major reshuffle in the education sector, the government has made changes in the post of Vice Chancellor (VC) of eleven public universities including Bangladesh University of Engineering (BUET).
The appointments were confirmed on Thursday (May 14) through separate notifications issued by the Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education.
The universities include Barishal University (BU), Comilla University (CU), Islamic University (IU), Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (DUET), Jamalpur Science and Technology University, Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University, Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU), Pabna University of Science and Technology (PUST) and Rangamati Science and Technology University.
According to the notifications, the newly appointed VCs will serve a four-year term or until they reach the age of retirement, whichever comes earlier. They will receive salaries and benefits equivalent to their previous positions, along with other facilities as per university rules. As chief executive officers of their respective institutions, they are required to remain full-time on campus.
