Tuku makes surprise visit to national zoo


State minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salahuddin Tuku paid a surprise visit at Bangladesh National Zoo in Mirpur on Friday.

During the visit, he reviewed the zoo's overall environment, normal care and healthcare services for animals and birds as well as food supply, security arrangements and the facilities available for visitors.

He visited different sections of the zoo and exchanged views with the concerned officials and staff members, BSS reports.

Speaking on the occasion, the state minister said that the National Zoo is one of the country's important centers for recreation and education. 

He instructed the concerned officials to work for further development of the zoo to make it a more modern, clean, visitor-friendly, and secured habitat for animals and birds. 

He also called upon all concerned to sincerely perform their duties to ensure animal welfare, biodiversity conservation, and visitors' safety.

Director General of the Department of Livestock Services Shahzaman Khan and Curator of the zoo Atikur Rahman were present.
