BUET & TMU sign MoU for academic, research collaboration


Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) and Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen academic and research collaboration between the two institutions recently.

The MoU includes cooperation in areas such as joint graduate and postgraduate academic programs, supervision of visiting research students, project-based collaborative activities, organization of conferences, seminars and academic events, academic staff mobility, and research collaboration, according to a press release. BUET is widely recognized as one of Bangladesh’s premier institutions for engineering, architecture, planning, and technological education, while TMU is known internationally for its innovative and research-oriented urban education environment in Canada. The initiative for establishing the collaboration from the BUET side was undertaken by Prof. Dr. Shabbir Ahmed and Prof Lisa Landrum and Dean Dr Ahmed Abdelrahman from TMU side. The collaboration is expected to create new opportunities for academic exchange, interdisciplinary research, and international cooperation for students, researchers, and faculty members of both institutions.
