Youth's body found hanging in N'ganj

Police recovered the hanging body of a teenage boy from a secluded garden area in Narayanganj's Sonargaon upazila on Sunday morning, while the victim's family alleged that he was murdered.

The deceased was identified as Ashraful Islam, 17, son of female village police member Fulesha Begum of Bardi union in the upazila. According to locals, residents spotted Ashraful's body hanging from a tree in a deserted garden at Bara Alamdhi Shaupara area under Bardi union in the morning and informed police.

Being informed, a team from Sonargaon Police Station rushed to the scene and recovered the body.
Some locals suspected that the teenager might have died by suicide.

However, the victim's family claimed it was a planned killing.

Ashraful's mother Fulesha Begum alleged that several friends had called her son out of the house before the incident, after which he went missing.
"My son was murdered and his body was later hung from the tree. He could never commit suicide," she said, demanding a proper investigation and arrest of those involved.

Police sent the body to Narayanganj Victoria General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

Sonargaon Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Golam Sarwar said the actual cause of death would be confirmed after receiving the autopsy report.
"The incident is being investigated seriously and necessary legal action will be taken based on the findings," the OC added.
