On the occasion of World Metrology Day 2026, a discussion meeting was held on Wednesday in the conference room of Rajshahi BSTI Divisional Office.
Johura Sikder, director of BSTI, presided over the meeting. The theme of this year's World Metrology Day is "Metrology Building Trust in Policy Making".
Divisional Commissioner Dr. ANM Bazlur Rashid was present as the chief guest at the discussion meeting.
As special guests, DIG of Police Mohammad Shahjahan, Deputy Commissioner Kazi Shahidul Islam, Superintendent of Police Naimul Hasan, Vice President of Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industry Ziauddin Ahmed were present and delivered important thematic speeches on the theme of this year's World Metrology Day.
On the theme, BSTI Director Johura Sikder presented the welcome speech. She detailed the objectives and significance of observing World Metrology Day, the activities and introduction of BSTI's Metrology Wing, and BSTI's role in formulating national measurements in Bangladesh through coordination with international measurement organisations.
In his speech, the chief guest called on everyone to increase consumer awareness in controlling accurate measurement of products and to maintain transparency among traders. "Just as we have made Rajshahi a beautiful, livable Green, Clean City, we can likewise introduce Green Food," he continued. BSTI is a people-oriented institution, he said, adding, "All its activities are action-oriented." The keynote paper was presented by Azizul Hakim, assistant director of BSTI.
Leaders of various industrial and trade associations and business organisations, representatives of various industrial establishments, and distinguished persons of the city were present at the discussion event.
