Dildar Hasan Dilu Elected to Key Position at South Asian Wushu Congress

Md Dildar Hasan Dilu, Founder and General Secretary of the Bangladesh Wushu Federation and widely known as  Shifu Dilu, has been elected 1st Joint Secretary of the South Asian Wushu Federation.

The election was held during the federation’s Annual Conference at the Taj Samudra Hotel in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

A delegation from the Bangladesh Wushu Federation, led by Senior Vice President SM Shahidul Haque Bhuiyan and General Secretary Dildar Hasan Dilu, represented the country at the congress. Bangladesh achieved considerable success in the elections, with several officials securing prominent positions in the regional body.

In addition to Shifu Dilu’s election as 1st Joint Secretary, SM Shahidul Haque Bhuiyan was elected Senior Vice President, while DM Rustam was chosen as an Honorary Member.

Furthermore, Bangladesh Wushu Federation President Major General SM Ridwanur Rahman was appointed Chairman of the Development Committee. International Wushu Judge Mashiur Rahman joined the Technical Committee, International Wushu Judge Abdullah Al Faisal was elected to the Traditional Wushu Committee, and International Wushu Judge Shahrin Sultana became an Honorary Member of the Women’s Committee.

Shifu Dildar Hasan Dilu is recognised as the pioneer who introduced and popularised Wushu in Bangladesh. As founding General Secretary, he has been instrumental in organising national championships, youth and junior competitions, coaches’ training programmes, and judges’ courses. He is the Founder and Chief Instructor of the Diamond Martial Arts Training Centre and was awarded the prestigious Sword of Honour by China for his outstanding contributions.

Under his leadership, the federation has strengthened international ties, including preparations for the 2026 Dakar Youth Olympic Games, where Wushu will feature as an official sport. Recent initiatives include Olympic Solidarity National Technical Coaching Courses in Taolu and Sanda, along with plans to send 30 Bangladeshi athletes to China for a 50-day training programme in August 2026.

Shifu Dilu was also recently elected General Secretary of the Bangladesh Sports Federations Secretaries Forum (BSFSF) ad-hoc committee.

The South Asian Wushu Congress serves as a vital platform for promoting both competitive and traditional Wushu across the region. With Wushu’s growing profile ahead of the 2026 Youth Olympics, these appointments are expected to create new opportunities for Bangladeshi athletes and further strengthen the country’s position as an emerging force in South Asian martial arts.
