If another Tk. 500-600 crore taka is spent on Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project, benefits will be yielded, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Rabiul Alam.
Criticizing the project, the minister said, "The project should be demolished and removed. A high-level committee has been formed to review both proposals. The committee's review is underway, and a decision will be taken after Eid."
He came up with the remarks while addressing a public awareness meeting to prevent road accidents in the Kharajora area of Kaliakair upazila of Gazipur on Sunday.
The event was jointly organized by the Gazipur District Administration and the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) Gazipur Circle.
Addressing the congregation, the minister noted that governmental initiatives alone cannot eliminate road mishaps; rather, transport owners, workers, law enforcement agencies, local administrations, and general citizens must collectively play a responsible role.
Addressing the transport owners and labor union leaders, he ordered them to maintain absolute discipline at major highway hubs, particularly across the Baipail, Elenga, and Chandra transport corridors.

Saiful Alam, Bangladesh Road Transport Workers Federation General Secretary Md. Humayun Kabir Khan, among others, were present on the occasion.
