2 murders in one night creates unrest in Netrakona

Two people were killed in two separate incidents in Netrakona on the same night.

Among them, a young man named Faisal Mia (18) died in a clash at a wedding ceremony. On the other hand, miscreants entered a house in the city and hacked a woman to death. Three others were injured in the incident. The incident took place in the Bamnikona area under Challisha Union in Netrakona Sadar on Monday (June 1) night.

Police said that during a wedding ceremony, Faisal and his companions had an argument with some people from the same area, and at one stage, the opposing people attacked them with bamboo sticks. Four people were injured. Later, the injured were taken to Netrakona Modern Sadar Hospital, while Faisal and Sadequl Islam were sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. Faisal died there around 2 am while undergoing treatment.

Meanwhile, a woman named Monoara Begum (55) was hacked to death after entering her house in Katli area of the city on the same night. Her husband Abu Chan (60) and son Munna Mia (25) were seriously injured. Locals rescued the injured and admitted them to the hospital. Later, the police arrested the accused rickshaw puller Abdur Rashid from the spot.

The initial police assumption is that the attacker first killed Monowara Begum. Later, when she tried to stop him, he hacked and injured her husband and son. The body of the deceased has been sent to the morgue for autopsy.

Netrakona Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Sajal Kumar Sarkar said, "A drive is underway to arrest those involved in the clash at the wedding ceremony. On the other hand, the police and PBI launched an investigation into the murder of the woman."

To mention, the two separate murders on the same night have created concern and excitement throughout Netrakona.
