Australian envoy Susan Ryle calls on Defence Adviser

Australian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Susan Ryle called on the Prime Minister's Defence Adviser Brigadier General (Retd) AKM Shamsul Islam at the Armed Forces Division in Dhaka Cantonment on Tuesday (2 June 2026).

The meeting, attended by a three-member delegation, was held at the Office of the Defence Adviser of the Armed Forces Division located in Dhaka Cantonment.

During the meeting, in addition to exchanging greetings, both sides held productive discussions on the existing bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Australia, 

particularly on strengthening defence cooperation, sharing mutual experiences, and exploring potential areas for future military collaboration. 
Both parties emphasized the importance of further consolidating, deepening, and diversifying the longstanding friendly relations between the two countries.

The discussions also covered enhancing defence and security cooperation, as well as expanding training opportunities, capacity building, professional development, and mutual engagement. Both sides underscored the importance of continuing constructive cooperation in maintaining regional and global peace, stability, and security. They also expressed optimism about elevating bilateral relations to a more effective and productive level in the future, based on mutual trust, respect, and shared interests.

Both parties expressed the view that this courtesy meeting would play an important role in further strengthening the existing friendly relations, mutual trust, and strategic cooperation between Bangladesh and Australia.
